I am a Lecturer in Economics at the University of Malta, where my teaching and research focus mainly on labour economics, microeconometrics, applied macroeconomics, and competition economics. Before joining the University full-time, I worked extensively in public policy, most recently serving as Director General of Malta’s National Competition Authority.

I previously worked at the Economic Policy Department within the Ministry for Finance and at the National Development and Social Fund, and contributed to the Working Group on Ageing Populations and Sustainability of the EU Economic Policy Committee. I hold a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and Public Policy and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Economics, graduating First Class, from the University of Malta. I subsequently completed an MSc in Economics with Distinction and a PhD in Economics at the University of Essex.

I am also affiliated with the Centre for Microsimulation and Policy Analysis at the Institute for Social and Economic Research, University of Essex.
